Organ Donation Awareness

Give Life. Leave a Legacy.

One decision can save lives, restore families, and give someone a second chance. Organ donation is not the end of a story — it can become the beginning of many more.

What is Organ Donation?

Organ donation is the act of giving healthy organs or tissues to a person whose organs have failed or are no longer functioning properly.

Donation can happen during life in certain cases, such as kidney or part of liver donation, and after death when organs and tissues may be donated with proper medical and legal processes.

It is one of the rare acts where one person’s decision can continue to protect, heal, and give hope to many others.

Organs & tissues that may help others

  • Heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and pancreas
  • Corneas that may restore sight
  • Skin, bones, heart valves and other tissues
  • Living donation in medically permitted situations

“A life that ends can still become a life that saves.”

Why India Needs More Awareness

The Need is Real. The Hope is Possible.

Every year, many patients wait for a transplant. For some families, the call for a matching organ comes in time. For many others, it does not. Awareness can change that.

One donor can save many lives

A deceased donor can potentially save multiple people through organ donation and improve many more through tissue donation.

!

Awareness is the biggest gap

Many people support donation in principle but never discuss their wish with family or register their pledge.

Families need clarity

When the time comes, families are often asked to make a difficult decision. Prior awareness and conversation can help.

Myths vs Facts

  • Myth: Doctors will not try to save me if I am a donor.
Fact: A doctor’s first duty is always to save the patient.
  • Myth: My family will have to pay for donation.
Fact: Donation is handled through regulated medical systems.
  • Myth: My age or health automatically disqualifies me.
Fact: Medical teams assess suitability at the appropriate time.
  • Myth: Pledging is enough.
Fact: It is equally important to tell your family about your decision.
